CLASSMATES: Juan Carvajal and Paloma Abondano
I had the opportunity to interview two classmates and these was their interview:
Question to Juan Carvajal: Which is the reason why chose to be a teacher?
Answer: "Well, I think that the principal reason to form as an educator is the passion for learn languages and how apply it to teaching processes and other people that love languages; with languages we can do a lot of things, principally the intercommunication between my culture with foreing cultures, it is a way of get out my world and to discover what have other places in common or different to me. Through languages teaching we give an opportunity to join students to other realities and contexts leaving them to experience with new people and new knowledge to teach students is not only give simple concepts repeating models and paradigms. It to teach is of responsability of the future and lead a group of persons able of change the world."
Question to Paloma Abondano: Which is the reason why chose to be a teacher?
Answer: "Firstly, I never though that I was going to be a teacher, but the life was showing me that this was for me, I think that it is in my veins like for my vitality, the most of my family have been professors. I began studying literature in the UdeA, only for testing and thanks for this while I was there I could understand that vocation is not something one is born, every day slowly builds. So, I can say today that I want to be a teacher because it is a work that not only trains students but who is really important and what I find valuable, we are not so much who seek out a product and as it is a profession very committed to the development of people not only in the academic subject.
Moreover, as a text I read long ago said, we are the responsible in the world. We are the makers of the world because we are who we educate other, so it depends on us whether the others do not construct, if they do not destroy or they do not transformed his surroundings. I want to be a teacher also because it is a profession of dialogue all the time and to talk is essential to learn. Being in touch with the other to learn form each other. As Freire says, students are not the only ones learning in the classroom, teachers also learn from our students, their arguments, their questions, etc."

1. When you realized that your vocation was to be a teacher?
2. If you had not choosen to be a teacher, which profession would you have liked to study? Why?
