ABOUT THE CLASS

First, I want to thank professor for sharing your knowledge in class, I think that each course is independent and each student must have the skills to develop it.

I think if we are studying any career, each must be responsible with their homework and I think the teacher should not ask the student: when will he/she do homework? I do not know if all who are studying this race want to be a teacher but at least I do have my clear goals and if I want to be, is the only thing that interests me.

I recommend the teacher in the classroom continue to deliver all their knowledge, but you do not forget to be humble, simple and respectful for students to do the same. (This is a tip). Again I thank you for all the learning that I made in class and I consider it as a good teacher with flaws (like everyone) but he has a great knowledge regarding the area of English.

Obviously, it is difficult to make a class when there is no seriousness, maturity and discipline on the part of students, but it is a challenge for everyone because we are training to be teachers and the university is what you want to achieve, I hope that everyone we achieve it.

Questions
1. Of all the classes of communicative competence. What was the class that you like most? and why?
2. How was to work with blogs?
3. Did you like competence 3? and why?

Thanks for all your comments in my blog.. ♥

FEEDBACK

INTRODUCTION

Feedback is an essential part of education and training programmes. It helps learners to maximise their potential at different stages of training, raise their awareness of strengths and areas for improvement, and identify actions to be taken to improve performance.

Feedback can be seen as informal (for example in day-to-day encounters between teachers and students or trainees, between peers or between colleagues) or formal (for example as part of written or clinical assessment). However, "there is no sharp dividing line between assessment and teaching in the area of giving feedback on learning" (Ramsden, 1992, p. 193). Feedback is part of the overall dialogue or interaction between teacher and learner, not a one-way communication.

CHANGING WORDS

HISTORY

In my neighborhood there is a girl very beautiful named Alice. She lived with her family until she finished the high school. Her home was very beautiful and every day she cleans the window with her grandmother. When she was in her home she lived very grateful and happy, until one day she wanted to going on vacation, she takes the metro and she pays with one hundred dollars. In the travel she met a man very attractive and handsome. She thinks that he could be her husband and it would have many children whit him and she could kiss to him. She was smiling and she was very happy. Then, she went to her Hotel for to call by telephone to her mom and she tells her mom everything that she had been living. However, it began to rain with much thunder, she was looking the door, she washes with her toothbrush and her tongue and she goes to sleep. The next day when she got up, she saw that everything was a dream, so she grabbed her pencil and she began to write this history.

In class, the teacher wrote a few words on the board and in the front of these words wrote other different words. The notion was not to use the word original, if not it changes this word  by other different word that he wrote in the front of it.

Here I give my 5 words :
Flowers: pig
Cellphone: banana
To cry: to eat boogers
Saxophone: buttocks
hat: feather

you going to make sentences with the previous words.

Questions.

EXPERIENCES WITH HISTORY

Personally, I do not consider a good writer but when I am writing if I know the issue is easier for me to write because I organize the ideas in my mind and then I shape on the sheet, but if I I do not know the subject I have to investigate to know that I will write. Honestly I wish I could develop the writing and I hope  in the University I can achieving it, so I admire many classmates who have that ability and I want to highlight and of course mention: Lorena, to Pipe Pabón, Felipe, to David and of course Cesar. (If I miss any, I apologize and so included)

With regard to classroom activity, in other courses I had done this same activity, this is a good activity of reading, reading comprehension and writing; normally, the story is inconsistent, incomplete or meaningless, in my case they left my  topic, they name a "giant" I do not know where it came from but I know whom wrote it but it was not much that  I had to organize, I think it was easy to make the conclusions and organize the ideas and thanks to the good question I asked at the beginning, Do they remember? So my story was chosen in my group for to write it on the sheet as a final written in the paper.

Questions.
1. Do you consider a good writter? Why?
2. What would you do to improve your writing?
3. Did you like my history? why?

I had the opportunity to interview two classmates and these was their interview:

Answer: "Well, I think that the principal reason to form as an educator is the passion for learn languages and how apply it to teaching processes and other people that love languages; with languages we can do a lot of things, principally the intercommunication between my culture with foreing cultures, it is a way of get out my world and to discover what have other places in common or different to me. Through languages teaching we give an opportunity to join students to other realities and contexts leaving them to experience with new people and new knowledge to teach students is not only give simple concepts repeating models and paradigms. It to teach is of responsability of the future and lead a group of persons able of change the world."

Question to Paloma Abondano: Which is the reason why chose to be a teacher?
Answer: "Firstly, I never though that I was going to be  a teacher, but the life was showing me that this was for me, I think that it is in my veins like for my vitality, the  most of my family have been professors. I began studying literature in the UdeA, only for testing and thanks for this while I was there I could understand  that vocation is not something one is born, every day slowly builds. So, I can say today that I want to be a teacher because it is a work that not only trains students but who is really important and what I find valuable, we are not so much who seek out a product and as it is a profession very committed to the development of people not only in the academic subject.

Moreover, as a text I read long ago said, we are the responsible in the world. We are the makers of the world because we are who we educate other, so it depends on us whether the others do not construct, if they do not destroy or they do not  transformed his surroundings. I want to be a teacher also because it is a profession of dialogue all the time and  to talk is essential to learn. Being in touch with the other to learn form each other. As Freire says, students are not the only ones learning in the classroom, teachers also learn from our students, their arguments, their questions, etc."

Questions:
1. When you realized that your vocation was to be a teacher?
2. If you had not choosen to be a teacher, which profession would you have liked to study? Why?
3.Of all ours classmates. Who  will be a great teacher? Why?

ACTIVITY ABOUT THE MOVIE: POPE JOAN

POPE JOAN BY DONNA WOOLFOLK

Profile: For centuries, the mystery of pope Joan was lingered. The author Donna Woolfolk Cross spent seven years researching the femenine pontiff mystery and the related time period for her historical novel Pope Joan (1996). She told  a ABC primetime live that she believed that Pope Joan was a real person based on the material available, It having found over 500 chronicle accounts of its existence. Mentions of Pope Joan can be found in a book by poet Giovanni Boccaccio and many other sources and images of a female pontiff can be seen in numerous artworks, including sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini at the Basilica in St. Peters Square.

Personally, I like these films because we can see how education has evolved from our ancestors to date. Initially because education was forbidden for a woman  and they had to be a make housewife. All these thoughts is like the older people had, I think that was a wrong idea about what they thought especially for men who thought or feared that a woman the will command them.

Questions:
1. Why do you think was the reason why women could not previously studied?
2. If you lived in that time you support that thought?
3. For men: Did you consider yourself a macho man? why?
For women: Did you consider yourself a feminist? why?

INTERVIEW

TEACHER: CARLOS GUTIERREZ PELAEZ

Question: Good afternoon teacher. How do you considered that is your labor as a teaching?

Answer: "Good afternoon, I consider that my labor as a teacher specifically like spanish language teacher of the linguistics specific of the area of linguistic, we must to  be conscious of the valor that have itself about the use of the language. The language is much more of the we think. The language for us must be considered the language more that an element and not  a tool that we use, yes?, because we took the language like a tool that we use and we cast away, we use, we  cast away  and we change and we move and we alter and we do nothing, yes? and I believe since my area, that the language is so complex and dense that this requiered of a conscious enough wide for to recognize the valor that in this exist."

ACTIVITY ABOUT THE SONG

The song that I chose is about education and the control they have children in the school and all that entails. Its name is: another brick in the wall by Pink Floyd.

I think that there are people who have a very low opinion of us; for this reason, I want to change that because we will to transform  the minds of children and we must show that we are great teachers. If feelings are about the song. I personally think that in my school I had teachers where I really did not learn in class or maybe your methodology was not good. I feel as the boys of the song.

I chose the song because I identified and I want to see a different side about education. I think and all what we like depends of the teacher and I am agree with the singer since teachers have a very bad concept; therefore, people have a context about education and there are things that we could change. I believe that there are so many activities that we can do but if I have that choose one activity, I say one that includes a video on teachers as examples of life for to be all the changes we could make in the education.

Questions about the song.
1. In your opinion as a future teacher. What was the worst song in all the exposure? Why?
2. What would do you to change the concept that  people have the bad teacher?
3. What would do you in a class for do  the same activity with the songs in a Catholic School?

My family is from a small town called Abriaquí that is not far from Medellín, I studied the primary School in Rosalia Suárez in Bello, I remember in fifth grade my Spanish teacher taught us the alphabet of English language. I going to be honest; at that moment, I really did not like Language English because I did not see the logic of the English alphabet. The use that has the alphabet in English is only to spell. However, when I studied in seventh grade in my English class, I could understand everything my English teacher in fifth grade told me, this was the reason to learn this language and I really love. Obviously, when I finished my high school I prepared the test of the University of Antioquia, but I did not pass that examination. Meanwhile,  I began to study an English course in different universities such as the Polytechnic Marco Fidel Suárez and Uniminuto; at the same time, I began to study music at the Music School of Bello and then in 2011, I joined  to the Network of Music School in Medellín (Red de Escuela de Música de Medellín).
